Sunday Snapshots - Baby It's Cold Out There

Since much of the US is suffering under extraordinary heat, I thought I'd cool you off with a few snaps from winters gone by.

  1. Lovely pics of the snow, but here in the UK it's more like Autumn/winter. With the children starting their summer vacations at the end of the week I hope we get a wee bit of your heat....only a little bit.

    Have a peaceful Sunday.
    Yvonne.

  2. I've lived in the midwest and snow really does drift that high. One year we couldn't get out our back door because it had drifted as high as the roof.

  3. The last winter was my first experience of it and the snow. I love it. But my boss and my sister who have been here for 24 years said, maybe on my first, yes I'm gonna love it but not forever. Maybe she is right; but, coming from the country with only two seasons - the wet & the dry, in just love how seasons change every 3 months. Anyway, it's not snownseason yet might as well enjoy summer as I feel like home...

I love the first and the last pic.

  4. I've experienced this sort of winter and I'm in no hurry to do it again.

  5. Very cool :-) (haha, didn't mean that to be punny, but ... lol)

I can remember one winter when I was probably a freshman in high school. It snowed so hard so quickly that we woke up in the morning and could not get any of the doors open. The drifting had just gone crazy, and even the garage door was frozen shut. My poor dog ... ;)

  7. I have lived through some of those.

    I'm feeling cooler already. : )

  8. Ooooh! This reminds me of Maine in '95, the blizzard of the century. A southern boy in so much snow is not pleasant. Your pictures are great. Where were they taken? When can we expect another episode of your charming tale? Quite tantalizing, yet a little on the romantic side . . . I take it you are a romance buff, aren't you?

  9. I used to love playing in the snow as a San Diego boy uprooted to live in the Northeast. Now when I visit my wife's family in Michigan for Christmas and have the distinct pleasure of helping shovel the driveway, I'm glad I have San Diego to call home.

  10. @ everyone: thanks for dropping by. The first 2 pics were from the Great Blizzard of 1995, the second 2 from the winter of 2009/2010.

As for the next serial installment, it's coming soon. I'm glad everyone seems to be enjoying it thus far!

  11. BTW, Jackie, I never thought of myself as a romance buff. But people seem to think so...maybe I'm a little puzzled as to what constitutes romance! (Which doesn't bode well for personal relationships, does it...)

@Milo - you are welcome to shovel my driveway any time. It's a very...interesting...driveway.

@Stu - yeah, I sympathize. Really, I do. Luckily the heat doesn't affect me. But the cold...I turn blue and shivery very quickly.
