Bring out, bring out,
bring out your dead!
See where your flagitious
ways have led.
Heap them upon
the blistering pyre,
deflagrate, depurate,
snuff by fire
these crepitant corpses
all bloated and black,
from glittering palace
and spindly shack,
cupidity, prejudice,
old schools of thought,
orgulous critics,
abetment you bought,
all the detritus
keeping fears fed,
bring out, bring out,
bring out your dead!
bring out your dead!
See where your flagitious
ways have led.
Heap them upon
the blistering pyre,
deflagrate, depurate,
snuff by fire
these crepitant corpses
all bloated and black,
from glittering palace
and spindly shack,
cupidity, prejudice,
old schools of thought,
orgulous critics,
abetment you bought,
all the detritus
keeping fears fed,
bring out, bring out,
bring out your dead!
That was fun!

Very nice poem. I'm a big fan of flash fiction and looking forward to reading yours:)
ReplyDeleteGreat poem. Whenever I hear "Bring out your dead" I can't help but picture the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail where John Cleese tries to offload a relative that is still alive!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I'm going to add your poem to my books read list :-)
