Foreigners - Flash Fiction - A to Z Challenge

Having managed to wreck their vehicles in a corn field, the two made their way to a nearby building.  The sign outside advertised one of their favorite dishes, and so they entered the fluorescent environs and chose something from the display.

The pale-skinned bag of jelly at the counter grunted as they passed by him.
"No helmets on in the store."

They ignored him and thrust their snack into the microwave.  A delicious smell emanated, which they listened to appreciatively.

A sight they recognized as imminent regurgitation struck their sensory organs. The BOJ approached.

"Listen, I don't know what you're on, or what f#@!ing planet you're from..."

"From Zantros!" they telepathed in unison before consuming him, garnished with crispy mealworms.

  1. Oh this was clever. I was wondering why they called him a bag of jelly, now it makes sense. The twist ending is excellent!

  2. mmmm....BOJ, but not on toast? ;) Sounds like good eats!
    Very funny, Li.

  3. Lol. A sign outside a diner in Canada where we were staying (we live in the UK) said 'Wet Willys'. Not normally eaten in public in the UK.

  4. NUMMMY!!! It's just a cultural difference mister BOJ ;) Wait were those Honey Badgers from Zantros? ;)

  7. Ewww! LOL. You sure took me for a loop with this story. I thought it was going to be about immigration or something related to that but sure enough, you went the route of the Others!

    Good story!

  8. Fun; I like how the little details (like cornfield) play together as the whole.

  9. That sign is priceless and was a story waiting to be written. Well done Li!

I've got a bit of mayhem happening in Mumbai today at RFW!
