K is for - Photos - A to Z Challenge

I thought I'd take a small writing break and offer photos instead.

K is for kisses

 and for King George VI

K is also for the Kinzua Viaduct (which was destroyed by a storm after I took this photo)

and for Krupp railway gun

as well as Kangaroo

To wrap things up, here are some K words to add to your vocabulary:

kakistocracy:   government by the worst

keelivine:  a type of pencil with red or black lead

and here are two freebie words I ran across this week

abditive:  remote, secret, hidden

accismus: to pretend to refuse something or to not want it

Links to a few previous A to Z flash fiction stories on the blog if you're new here:

Alpha which is set during the Vietnam War era (fictional memoir)

Come At Once takes place aboard the RMS Carpathia (historical fantasy)

Eternally On Fire is the story of the ghost town Centralia, PA (nonfiction)

Foreigners considers cultural differences in a tongue-in-cheek manner (humor)

I also used the viaduct last year for a "K" flash fiction Kinzua

These were a few of my favorites to write. I'll be back tomorrow with a new story for L. Don't forget to click the A to Z badge on my sidebar to find other participants in the challenge!

    1. Hi Alex! I've been saving time by returning blog visits instead of individual replies, but I'll answer your question - Kinzua Viaduct (railroad bridge) was built in 1882 in western Pennsylvania. It was in commercial use till 1959. it was later sold and they used to run steam train excursions across it, even stopping the train so you could take pictures. The bridge was 301 feet (92 m) tall and 2,052 feet (625 m) long prior to its collapse in 2003 during a storm. I used it last year as a flash fiction "K" entry as well :-) Kinzua

  2. Interesting group of K's. Aww on the kisses. When I was young there was a horse that used to give me kisses.

  12. hopefully the bridge wasn't destroyed by a storm a few seconds after you took the photo because that would be creepy

  13. Now why does your mind go from kisses to King George that quickly...?

  14. Nice group of photos for letter 'K'. But I don't think I would risk bodily harm to kiss a kangaroo! Maybe, a pretty faced wallaby, but definately not the red kangaroo!
