Romantic Friday Writers
Semaphore
speak to me
somnolent murmurs
exultant cries
ravishing prose
and sighs
wetly entwined
speak to me
with flesh on flesh
telegraphed intent
delicate tracery
eyes neck lips
fingertips
speak to me
by tender missive
notes scrawled
laundry lists
or epistles
on my skin
speak to me
with cherished scent
old jokes
half-remembered
midnight
recollections
speak to me
one thousand ways
never a word
if you like
be silent
just not still

ReplyDeleteA pleasure to read , the message coming over loud and clear.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Loved this poem. Great reflection on relationships and sharing love and lives. :O)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem, I loved it.
ReplyDeleteIt has a really nice rhythm to it, just like a song.
ReplyDeleteGood rhythm, it seems to wash over me. I like the repeating first line.
ReplyDeleteIf music could be soundless, it would feel like this! The piece was like a song in my head, liked it a lot. Speak to me. . those three words seem very, very piercing. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteVery sensual, a lovely write and a lovely read.
ReplyDeleteYou showed your creativity and talent with this poem, Li. Perfect ending.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
I really liked the way the last line of each stanza segued into the new theme of the next. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteSo love the rhythm and blues of this: a saxophone playing in the background, sultry voice letting loose the words on the ether. Lovely, lovely, lovely! ;)

Oh, this is my favorite type of poetry! I love how your words flow over me. It feels like a stream of images slipping through my mind. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteAs Francine says, a saxophone would not be out of place. I'll be singing this poem all day. Wonderful for Voices.
ReplyDeleteDenise
It flows right off the tip of my tongue... Beautiful!

nice...and love the continued call to speak to me...as communication is huge in relationships and often one of the biggest failings...
and in the end the relief that it need not be vocal...i like...smiles.
This is a rather provocative piece. I haven't heard the word "semaphore" for quite some time and interestingly in this context.

ReplyDeleteYes. I seldom write poetry, this is one of the few that I was actually happy with.
