It's still chilly and wet outside, but the freezing weather and snow appear to be gone for the year. The local polo field is boggy, but the trees have a telltale green fuzz to them and the horses are shedding. One of the things I look forward to during late spring/early summer is tailgating at the local polo matches. If I'm lucky, some of the premium members don't show up for the game and after the first hour I can creep up into their space and get a better view of the action.

wow - fab photo! I've never seen a polo match. Do you ride?
ReplyDeleteOurs does not start until late summer here and it is more of a picnic setting. A ton of fun though :)

Laura - I ride Western, but I don't own any horses. And I'd never be able to handle both a horse and a polo mallet, as I can't walk and chew gum at the same time.
ReplyDeleteJules - matches usually start around June 10, but there are "work" days at the field beforehand. It's an informal crowd, picnics and...ummm...cool beverages are permitted. They also have special events that tie in sometimes; last year there was a British car show.
Wonderful photo.

Thanks, Yvonne :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love anything that has to do with Horses :) And I love watching Polo! I have watched a private royal match before. Sadly we do not have the space or the weather to have such matches here in Mumbai. I hope people don't show up so you can creep into their seats! :D
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a polo match but it looks like an excellent drinking game!
ReplyDeletewhereabouts are you? Hope it gets warmer soon. You are right. It's a weird situation when a nuclear reactor leaking only makes the second slot on the news...
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to ride a horse, but I'm fine with being happy about spring right now.
ReplyDeleteYour plans for A-Z sound reasonable, hope you make it through fine.

I've never been to a polo match. We don't hear much about that sport here in California. I'll bet it would be an exciting sport to watch.
ReplyDeleteI've never watched a polo match, except for little snippets here and there.
ReplyDeleteHope the weather gets better where you are!
That's really stopping the action with the camera lens. I'm another one who's never been to a polo match or even seen one on TV.

It took me a while to figure out the rules of the game and such, but I love the thunder of the horses, the skill of the riders (and they are of all ages), and just hanging out in the warm sun with nice people and a cool beverage. ;)
